  • Debate Workshop – Dutch/Czech Exchange Students

Debate Workshop – Dutch/Czech Exchange Students On April 16th, I’ll be working with a group of 54 Dutch exchange students for a full-on, high-energy debate workshop. No sitting back. No hiding. Everyone speaks. Through fast-paced games, challenges, and structured debate rounds, students jump straight into using English to think, react, and argue. They’ll build strong arguments, defend their ideas, and learn how to respond when someone disagrees — all under time pressure. It’s competitive, it’s loud, and it’s fun. The goal? Get every student actively using English, pushing their limits, and discovering that they can say more than they think.

OUP August Conference – Brno 26 August 2026 This summer I am presenting at the Oxford University Press “For the Love of Teaching” conference in Brno. The same session also runs in Prague the following day, on 27 August. My session is called They Think It’s Just a Game and it is about exactly that: how simple classroom activities secretly build the thinking, speaking and listening skills students need to argue clearly and confidently. No debate experience needed – just a willingness to let your classroom get a little noisy. All activities come straight from my 8-lesson classroom programme. You
