Debate Training for TEFL Teachers – Mathanja

Conversation Classes That Actually Make Sense

You know that feeling when you’re assigned conversation classes and you think: what am I supposed to do with them?

I’ve been there. You end up prepping longer than the class itself. You bring discussion questions. You try role-plays. Sometimes it works. Sometimes it’s just awkward silence.

What I think you need is structure. Not a script, but a clear framework that builds skills systematically instead of hoping conversation “just happens.”

What This Program Gives You

16 ready-to-use conversation lessons that develop four core skills:

Communication
Collaboration
Critical Thinking
Creativity

Each lesson focuses on one skill. The skills cycle and build on each other. By the end, students can participate in a structured debate — which demonstrates all four skills working together.

The goal isn’t to turn your students into debaters.

The goal is to give you a clear system for conversation classes that develops real skills while keeping students engaged.

How It Works

3-Month Program • Live Sessions Every 2 Weeks

  • 16 complete lesson plans (can be used as 8 double lessons)
  • Training videos showing how to teach each skill
  • Live Q&A sessions for support
  • Learn how to implement this in your classroom
  • Optional: Practice debate yourself if you want to experience it firsthand

Who This Is For

TEFL teachers (120-hour certification or equivalent) who:

  • Get assigned conversation classes but don’t have a clear structure for them
  • Want their conversation classes to build actual skills, not just fill time
  • Are looking for a complete system they can implement right away
  • Want to develop communication, collaboration, critical thinking, and creativity in their students
Beta Program • €375 per teacher • Limited to first 6 participants

Why Debate?

I think debate is one of the most efficient ways to develop multiple skills at once. It’s not about formal competition. It’s about giving students a structured framework where they have to think, collaborate, respond, and speak with purpose.

The debate at the end of the program isn’t the point. It’s the proof that the system worked. Students who can debate well have developed the four core skills. And once you know how the system works, you can use these skills in any conversation class you teach.
